At SUREWiSE, we think it’s a great idea for you to meet our team.
SUREWiSE is made up of a large team of insurance professionals who all work together to protect our client’s and their assets. Throughout your interactions with our organisation, you probably won’t get to meet everyone so this is just one way we can introduce our team to you.
In this article, let’s get to know Shannan Gardner.
Shannan is an Account Executive in SUREWiSE’s Business Unit and she manages a growing portfolio of business clients. Shannan works closely with her clients to identify their risk exposures and recommends insurance and risk management solutions to best protect their assets, business and cashflow. Born and raised in South Australia, Shannan is a local who understands the needs of businesses both locally and nationally.
Prior to joining the team at SUREWiSE in November 2017, Shannan had managed mixed portfolios of business and SME clients for two other general insurance brokerages. Shannan enjoys dealing with a variety of different clients and enjoys getting to see how different businesses operate. One day she might be at an engraving business and the next day should could be at a factory.
Spending quality time with friends and family and playing football are what make Shannan happy. She has been playing football in the SA Women’s Football League (SAWFL) for the last 7 years and currently plays for the Happy Valley Football Club. Shannan is a defender in the backline and loves being part of a team environment as well as watching women’s football progress so quickly.
Shannan describes herself as a bit of a history buff and is interested in Australian history and military as well as family history research or genealogy. She also revealed she is a ‘gamer’ and loves her playsation. Her favourite game is Shenmue (a Sega dreamcast game which is no longer available). Shannon also advised she is a movie buff, with her favourite movie being the Titanic. Shannan’s favourite actor is Leonardo DiCaprio and explains this is because he doesn’t select movie roles for the sake or it – he chooses roles that he is interested in.
Positivity is important to Shannan who always looks for the positive things in life and she enjoys helping others.
When it comes to travelling, Shannan has been to Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast in Australia with her favourite city being Perth as it’s very much like Adelaide which makes her feel at home with so many regions of interest to visit. Shannan traveled overseas for the first time 5 years ago to Bali and has returned every year since! She likes Bali as it’s laid back, close to home and has a friendly and happy culture.
Did you also know that Shannan supports (and is a member of) the West Coast Eagles in the AFL? Her favourite all-time player is Ben Cousins.
If Shannan could travel anywhere in the world for a month-long holiday, she wants to get to the USA and lists New York, Washington D.C., Las Vegas and a number of theme parks high on her to-do-list.
If provided with the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, Shannan said she would like to meet Fredrik Eklund who appeared on a tv series called ‘Million Dollar Listing’. Shannan believes Fredrik is a very motivational person, is positive, has great energy levels and possesses good business ethics. She further explained that Fredrik came from “pretty much nothing to a multi-millionaire”.
Shannan enjoys cooking and her favourite dishes are pasta dishes. When she’s not cooking, her favourite local restaurant is La Trattoria, an Italian restaurant on King William Street, Adelaide.
When asked what the most craziest thing she has ever done was, Shannan was quick to respond with, “sky diving”. Shannan was given a birthday present from her boyfriend to sky dive from 10,000 feet. Although scared at first, she loved the adrenaline rush and would do it again.
